Helix Wine - Wines

Helix 2009 Merlot, 1.5L

While bathing my glass with soft garnet color, the Merlot's nose evokes a vision of reaching into cabinets next to my stove and prepping dinner; saute pan, cutting board, small glass bowls, knives, food. A powerful palate of deep black cherry reduction, roasted tomato, fresh sage, a touch of espresso ground French roasted coffee with hints of dark chocolate, toasted walnut, cedar shavings and chopped vanilla bean. i'm glad I get to sample as I cook. - Chuck Reininger, Winemaker

Helix 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L

There is no doubt this is the most relaxed Cabernet Sauvignon that we have ever produced. Fruit forward with well-worn khakis. Lofty aromatics are full of cherry and red plum, swirling with whiffs of sweet oak spice followed by a paper-thin slice of steak tartar. With its very soft tannins, the wine enters the mouth ever so gently yet with lively acidity that elevates a delightful blend of Chelan cherry, plum, currant and a hint of marionberry tagged with a beautiful lingering finish of bright cherry accompanied by brown baking spices and light oak. Helix 2013 Merlot 1.5L

The 2013 Helix Merlot’s garnet color portends its bold black raspberry and dark cherry fragrance that is accented by candied pecans, cedar, vanilla, and a mist of blended attar, rose petals and anise. The flavor begins by mirroring the nose,  then adds plum and folds the fruit into dark chocolate.  Succulent acidity elevates these flavors to mingle in wood spices with a pinch of dill all of which is contrasted by medium round-dry tannins. Enjoy this with grass fed pan fried hanger steak with a merlot reduction and wild mushrooms. ~Chuck Reininger, Winemaker

Helix 2013 Sangiovese 1.5L

This lovely Sangiovese brings forth images of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – Spring, energetic with a delicate restraint. Blossoming aromatics and a bouquet of strawberry jam, rainier cherries and pomegranate celebrate with wisps from an Italian roast coffee at arms-length. Medium grained tannins possess a light grip on winter’s hardened soil while the wine’s softer acid ushers sundried pomegranate and black cherry with shades of plum and lightly toasted oak. This is an excellent choice for veal marsala.-Chuck Reininger, Winemaker
